Clinical Evaluation of Suprofen in the Neurosurgical Patients







Abstract
Clinical evaluation for analgesic effect of suprofen was done in the neurosurgical patients Total number of the patients was 49 and they were all adults.
Overall good analgesic effect was found in about 75% of the patients. But the analgesic effect was dependent on the disease characteristics and pre-treatment pain intensity.
When the pre-treatment rain level was mild or moderate, effective pain relief was noted. in 80% of the cases, but there was only 63% of rain relief if the pre-treatment pain level was severe.
Analgesic effect was different in each disease entities. Good analgesic effect was noted in. 90% of the non-surgical patients as back pain, neck pain and headache, and 77.8% in postoperative wound pain. But only in 36.4% of the patients with cancer pain and neuralgia as. other non-narcotic analgesics. This figure affected overall statistics of the analgesic effect.
Maximum analgesic effect was noted in 2 hours after treatment and the analgesic effect was lasted until 6 hours.
Adverse reaction was found in only 2 patients and not serious.
In conclusion, Suprofen is an effective non-narcotic analgesic on the back pain, headache, neck pain and post-operative pain without serious adverse reaction.
